Everyone lining up eagerly, seeking a fix or a high.
Someone pulls the reins then you chew at the bit
Someone controlling the situation while others are impatient to act.
Encouraged by commercials to spend beyond my means
Persuaded by advertisements to spend excessively.
I laughed as it all fell apart at the seams
Finding amusement as everything falls apart due to excessive consumption.

Attention called to consider the future.
But will I inherit the good green earth?
Questioning whether one will inherit a sustainable world.
Such a lovely world
Commenting ironically on the world's beauty despite its issues.
All mod-cons there was dust on the drums
Despite modern conveniences, neglect is visible.
My electronic beat-box got the job done
Technology serving its purpose, despite neglect or decay.
Everybody emulate the pulse of the soul
Encouraging others to mimic the essence of life but losing their individuality.
And change your clothes (to make you feel whole)
Suggesting changing appearances to feel complete.
Effort and sweat was a thing of the past (they said!)
Implies that hard work and exertion are obsolete in this context.
Welcome to the world of the beautiful dead
Welcoming to a world where people are spiritually or emotionally drained, yet visually appealing.
