Lyrics
I thought I'd teach my robot to write all of my songs.
I had the idea of programming my robot to compose my songs.
I thought I'd teach my robot to write all my songs,
Reiteration of the intention to teach the robot to create music.
And I'd send him out into the morning to see what he could see -
The robot is sent out to observe the city and store the experiences in its memory.
Just to roll around the city, and store it all up in his memory.
The robot's task is to roam the city, collecting memories to use in songwriting.
Then when he got back he could cut up the drum breaks,
Upon return, the robot is expected to edit drum breaks and create musical loops.
Make the loops.
Specifically, the robot should be able to generate music loops.
I thought I'd teach my robot to write all my songs,
Reiteration of the desire to automate songwriting through the robot.
And I sent off for the book that told me how to re-arrange its circuits.
The narrator follows instructions to modify the robot's circuits for better songwriting.
I bought all the new bits it said I would need,
New components are acquired based on the guide for enhancing the robot's abilities.
Then I opened my robot up,
The narrator opens up the robot to begin the modification process.
And I got to work.
The narrator actively works on altering the robot's functions.
I thought I'd teach my robot to write all my songs,
Reiteration of the plan to teach the robot to compose songs.
And I spent days soldering -
Extensive effort is put into soldering, implying a significant investment of time and energy.
'Til the whole house smelt like the Paris metro,
The strong smell of soldering fills the house during the modification process.
In summertime.
The smell is likened to the scent of the Paris metro in summertime, emphasizing intensity.
And I was driving on by the thought
The narrator contemplates having time for personal life once the robot can generate music loops.
Of how I would have the time just to live
The anticipation of having free time when the robot handles music composition.
When he made all the loops.
The expectation that the robot will create musical loops efficiently.
And when finally I was finished,
After completion of modifications, the narrator turns the robot back on.
And I switched him back on,
However, the reactivated robot does not respond or function.
Nothing happened.
No positive outcome occurs upon reactivation; the robot remains non-functional.
He didn't work at all.
The robot fails to work at all, indicating a disappointing result.
And now I've spent months on him,
Despite ongoing attempts, the robot remains non-operational.
Hours and hours every day.
Considerable time and money continue to be spent on fixing the robot.
And a lot of money too.
The investment includes significant hours and financial resources.
And he just lies in pieces in the corner of the room;
The non-functional robot lies abandoned in the room, rendering it useless.
Totally useless.
The robot is completely ineffective despite the extensive investment and effort.
