Lyrics
I wrote a poem on a dog biscuit
I expressed my thoughts in a poem written on a dog biscuit.
And your dog refused to look at it
Your dog ignored the poem, refusing to acknowledge it.
So I got drunk and looked at the Empire State Building
Feeling disappointed, I got drunk and observed the Empire State Building.
It was no bigger than a nickel
The building appeared insignificant, no larger than a nickel.
And if it don't improve
If the situation doesn't get better, I may have to relocate.
Then I have to move
Expressing the need for improvement in circumstances.
I never thought that I would end up here
I never expected to find myself in this situation.
Maybe I should just change my style
Considering a change in personal approach or lifestyle.
But I feel alright when you smile
Despite challenges, I feel content when you smile.
I stayed at home on the Fourth of July
On Independence Day, I chose to stay at home.
And I pulled the shades so I didn't have to see the sky
I avoided looking at the sky by keeping the shades pulled.
And I decided to have a Bed In
Opted for a Bed In, a peaceful protest, but forgot to invite anyone.
But I forgot to invite anybody
The solitude of the Bed In became apparent as no one was invited.
And when I fell asleep
During sleep, neighbors curiously observed the situation.
The neighbors had a peep
People around snooped while I was asleep.
I never thought that I would end up here
Unexpectedly finding oneself in an undesirable situation.
Maybe I should just change my style
Contemplating a change in personal style or approach to life.
But I feel alright when you smile
Despite challenges, your smile brings a sense of well-being.
