Praying and laying hands on folks stomping and jumping around faking the holy ghost
Criticizing people who engage in dramatic displays of faith, questioning the authenticity of their spiritual experiences.
But its a thin line between walking it and talking it
Highlighting the fine line between professing faith and genuinely living it.
Living it and giving it or just pretending it's alright
Emphasizing the importance of living a righteous life rather than just pretending to do so.
And did they really think that they could pull the wool over your eyes lord
Questioning if individuals believe they can deceive God with insincere actions.
Did they really think that by faking they were saved that they would get the same reward
Doubting the idea that faking salvation will result in the same divine reward.
This be the realest thing I ever wrote for sure
Asserting that the lyrics convey a genuine and honest message.
After this a lot of folks won't like me no mo'
Anticipating that the truth shared might make the artist unpopular.
But after this I gotta go answer to you Lord
Acknowledging accountability to God despite potential disapproval from others.
So I've made up my mind I'm a go to church on Sunday
Deciding to attend church despite the discomfort it may cause.
And sing a song that may hurt somebody's feelings so that maybe
Committing to singing a song that may challenge or upset others, aligning with God's will.
Thy will, will be done
Expressing the desire for God's will to be fulfilled.
On earth as it is in heaven
Quoting a biblical phrase to emphasize the alignment of earthly actions with divine intentions.
And hopefully they will see
Hoping that through honesty, others may recognize their discouraging behavior.
How much they really be discouraging a little old sinner like me
Conveying the impact of others' actions on the artist, portraying vulnerability.
And Lord who they think they jiving by singing these songs full of glory
Criticizing hypocrisy, questioning the sincerity of those singing gloriously in church but behaving differently outside.
Then out in the world it's a different story
Highlighting the inconsistency between public displays of faith and real-life behavior.
I'm running out of people to pray for me
Expressing a sense of isolation or lack of support from others in terms of prayer.
I'm not trying to act like I'm the perfect man
Acknowledging personal imperfection while emphasizing the importance of aligning actions with words.
But if you speak about it, you should be about it not just preach about it all day
Stressing the need to live out one's beliefs instead of merely preaching them.
Cause if you do you run the risk of chasing some of the most beautiful people away
Warning about the risk of alienating people by preaching without genuine actions.
And it is never my intention to discourage you rather encourage you to change your life today
Clarifying the intention to encourage positive change rather than discouraging others.

Reiterating the anticipated unpopularity of the message being conveyed.
