Any Ole Reason
Unraveling Heartache: Finding Any Ole Reason to Move OnLyrics
I used to come in here maybe once or twice a year
I used to visit this place infrequently, perhaps once or twice annually.
But only when I had a good excuse
My visits were contingent on having a valid reason or excuse.
I'd have one or two, then be on my way
I would consume one or two drinks and then leave.
But that's way before she told me we were through
This routine changed when she informed me of our breakup.
Now any ole reason will do, any ole thing that I can use
Now, I find any arbitrary reason sufficient, anything I can use as an excuse.
The days, the nights, the clouds, the rain, the moon
These reasons could be related to days, nights, clouds, rain, or the moon.
I don't have to think about the love I live without
I no longer need to dwell on the love I lack or the unused heart she left.
Or the heart she left that never will be used
There is a sense of emptiness from the love that will never be utilized.
Really, any ole reason will do
Essentially, any random reason is now sufficient for my actions.
At first I told myself she'd never cross my mind
Initially, I convinced myself that she wouldn't occupy my thoughts.
Unless I was to meet her eye to eye
Unless there was a direct confrontation where our eyes met.
And only when I felt alone would I turn her memory on
I would only reminisce about her when feeling alone.
Well I guess that means I told myself a lie
This self-assurance turned out to be a falsehood.
Now any ole reason will do, any ole thing that I can use
Currently, any trivial reason serves as a justification for my actions.
The days, the nights, the clouds, the rain, the moon
These reasons encompass days, nights, clouds, rain, or the moon.
I don't have to think about the love I live without
I don't need to contemplate the love I'm missing or the unused heart she left.
Or the heart she left that never will be used
There's a recognition of the heartache from love that remains untouched.
Really, any ole reason will do
Ultimately, any arbitrary reason suffices for my actions.
