My ideas used to be laughed at from the moment they were said
Expressing past experiences of having ideas ridiculed from the moment of sharing.
Why is it a thing for adults to go and crush the dreams of some little kid
Questioning the tendency of adults to discourage the dreams of young children.
I wanted to show them all for that 'realism' to just stop
Desire to defy the imposed 'realism' and prove the validity of personal aspirations.
I knew all my plans were real, I just had to find a way
Belief in the reality of one's plans and the determination to find a way to achieve them.

From all of those places, all too loving embraces, I've spent ages trying to be seen
Reflecting on past struggles to gain recognition and acceptance.
Happier days finally found my ways the second that I made them see
Attaining happiness when others acknowledge and understand the speaker's perspective.
The one I want to make proud is just little me
The primary desire to make oneself proud, especially the younger version of oneself.
Filled out pages and dreams with all the images of who I'd become

Growing a purpose each day made rebelling the norms just a bit more fun
Finding purpose and enjoyment in challenging societal norms on a daily basis.
But sometimes it made no sense, it seemed like I just can't follow the thread

Then I'd remember that little kid thinking of future bright ahead
Recalling the inspiration of a bright future that motivated the speaker as a child.
