Sometimes it’s just better not to see too far ahead

At times, ignorance of the future can be advantageous.

For if you know now what you’d later know

Foreknowledge can lead to getting stuck in undesirable situations.

There’s nothing romantic about the fall of Rome

No glamour in the downfall of great empires or systems.

Can’t unring a bell, can’t undo a wrong

Actions and their consequences cannot be undone or forgotten.
