Lyrics

Your life makes mine look like a real farce

Your life seems more genuine or serious compared to mine, which appears to be a mockery or absurd in comparison.

I don't blame you for despising my job

I understand why you might dislike or look down on my profession.

You said that men like me can't make their minds up

You mentioned that individuals like me have difficulty making decisions or sticking to choices.

I think you're wrong, but I can't decide

I disagree with your opinion, but I'm unable to make a firm decision about it.

And when we went swimming

During a moment when we were swimming together.

They made us sign a form

We were required to sign a document as a precautionary measure.

In case we drowned

In case of us drowning.

When I look back I won't wallow

Looking back at past experiences, I won't dwell or indulge in self-pity.

I've done that shit before and it don't sit right

I've previously dwelled on such matters, but it doesn't feel appropriate.

You always had the knack to laugh in sorrow

You always had the ability to find humor in times of sadness or difficulty.

And even a mortician sees the funny side

Even someone involved in handling the deceased (mortician) can see the humorous side of life.

So do I

I also possess this ability to find humor in such situations.

You have it in for all Americans

You harbor a dislike or resentment towards all Americans.

You don't like when I use their words for things

You dislike it when I use American terms or phrases.

Well, that's the joy of being half-Canadian

Being half-Canadian brings the challenge of experiencing both the negative aspects of both worlds, which paradoxically is advantageous.

You get the worst of both worlds, it's the best

You get the downsides of both worlds, but somehow it turns out to be beneficial.

And when I had the jab

When I received the vaccination.

You interlocked our hands

You held onto my hand tightly in case I fainted.

In case I passed out

As a precaution if I lost consciousness.

When I look back I won't wallow

Reflecting on the past, I won't dwell or linger in self-pity.

I'll do my best to not romanticize

I'll try my best not to glorify or idealize past experiences.

And every bird above is not a sparrow

Not every bird flying above is a common sparrow.

And even a mortician sees the funny side

Even someone in a profession dealing with the dead can find humor in life.

So do I

I possess this ability as well.

So do I

I also possess this ability.

So do I

-

Oh, they can see the funny side and so can I

Others, like morticians, can find humor in situations, and I am also capable of doing so.

Oh, they can see the funny side and so can I
