Lyrics

I went for a walk inside the wilderness the other day

I took a walk in the wilderness recently

In a state of complete bewilderment and disarray

Felt completely confused and disorganized

I chose the path besides the water for to ease my mind

Chose a path near the water to find peace of mind

Before I knew the hours flew and I lost track of time

Lost track of time as hours passed quickly

And the sky fell, there was darkness all around

The sky darkened, creating a sense of gloom

The direction from which I came could not be found

Lost my way back, disoriented

And the coyote called and the black wind howled

Coyotes called, and the wind howled ominously

But I knew that I could make it out somehow

Despite challenges, confident in finding a way out

I knew a man who had a plan to take his own life

Knows someone contemplating suicide

He'd put the lighter to the spoon and then turn off the lights

Using drugs, seeking escape from pain

Every breath was just a quest to attempt not to feel

Every breath is an attempt to numb emotions

One afternoon he grabbed the keys and got behind the wheel

Chooses to drive, risking his life

And the car swerved blindly off the road

Car veers off the road in a reckless manner

He does not recollect the wreck his mind had closed

Memory loss due to the impact

It's been two years since that scene and he is still clean now

Despite the past, the person is now clean

He found a way to make it out somehow

Found a way to overcome difficulties

Let's say this country is a house because it is your home

Country likened to a home built on a solid foundation

And it was built with quick precision on a bed of stone

Built with care, but over time, experiences wear and tear

With everyone welcome at the table, even passers through

Originally inclusive, but things change with time

Over the years it becomes weather like all good things do

The nation undergoes natural changes like any good thing

The tenants job is to maintain it, to their best intent

Citizens' responsibility to maintain their home

I say that you and me are tenants because we all rent

We are all temporary residents, akin to renting

When a pipe leaks in the bedroom on the highest floor

Issues in the system affect everyone

The water weaves and trickles down and that can't be ignored

Problems spread if not addressed

Cause water idle in the darkness where the air is still

Water stagnating in darkness causes harm

Develops mold and those who breath it can get deathly ill

Mold develops, posing a serious health risk

So ya got no choice but to open up the wall

No choice but to address internal issues

If it's rotten from within well then the whole house falls

If the core is corrupted, the entire structure fails

With your mask and your hammer and a sacred vow

Using necessary tools and determination

You find a way to make it out somehow

Finding a way to overcome challenges and persevere
