Sensing the brightness of light through window shades.
Through window shades that shield me
The window shades provide a shield from the harsh world.
From this cold and broken world
Acknowledging the world as cold and broken.
Yeah I said it's a cold and it's a broken world
Reiteration of the cold and broken nature of the world.
So I keep my head up
Maintaining a positive mindset by keeping one's head up.
Or at least I try to

And when that pain comes back again
When pain resurfaces, reminding oneself that change is constant.
I remind myself that everything changes
Embracing the idea that difficult times will pass.
And this too shall pass
A declaration of resilience and not easily succumbing to tears.
And I'm not one to cry
Anticipating the overflow of tears during springtime.
But when springtime comes the streams will overflow
Symbolizing a release of emotions with tears.
Tears falling all around me
Stepping outside and running with outstretched arms like wings.
I get outside
Leaving behind the challenges and embracing freedom.
And I run with arms outstretched like they were wings
Expressing a renewed sense of strength.
Leave this all behind me
A willingness to leave behind difficulties.
I'm so alone
Reiteration of being in a state of solitude.
But I finally feel strong enough to try
Feeling empowered and strong enough to face challenges alone.
