We lit a fire and our fingers got burned
We engaged in something risky, and it resulted in negative consequences.
And we used gasoline to put it out
We attempted to extinguish the fire using a highly flammable substance.
Now our brows are gone, and our fingers hurt
As a consequence, we suffered further damage, losing our eyebrows and experiencing pain in our fingers.
But we need more gasoline, no doubt
Despite the harm, we recognize the need for more of the same risky substance, possibly indicating a cycle of destructive behavior.
This ain't just calamity days
The challenging situations we face are more than just ordinary calamities.
This is the prize we pay
These difficulties are a form of payment or consequence for our actions.
It is the prize we pay
Reiterating that the challenges faced are indeed a consequence, emphasizing their inevitability.
Maybe if we now draw the line
Suggesting the possibility of establishing boundaries or making changes to improve the situation.
We can still be fine
If we take decisive action now, there is hope for improvement and resolution.
At least we'll be all right
Expressing optimism that, at the very least, things will turn out okay if we take corrective measures.
We build our houses down by the riverside

Even though we know a flood will come
Acknowledging the imminent threat of a flood but expressing confidence due to having insurance.
But we got insurance so there's no worries here
Assuring that despite the damage, there is confidence in rebuilding and starting anew.
We'll get it rebuilt, yes, we'll get it redone
Emphasizing resilience and determination to reconstruct despite challenges.
The apples in my garden are just getting ripe
Highlighting the positive aspect of a fruitful harvest in the garden.
But I can't reach the highest branch
Despite the abundance, there are challenges (the highest branch) that are difficult to overcome.
I've got a saw, and I got an axe
Expressing readiness and tools available to address challenges and seize opportunities.
I do believe this is my chance
Belief in the current moment as an opportunity for positive change or advancement.
