Suzanne
Suzanne's Mystical Journey: A Poetic River of Love and RedemptionLyrics
Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river
Suzanne invites you to her place near the river.
You can hear the boats go by
You can hear the passing boats.
You can spend the night beside her
You can stay overnight with Suzanne.
And you know that she's half crazy
Suzanne is perceived as somewhat eccentric.
But that's why you want to be there
Her eccentricity is an attraction.
And she feeds you tea and oranges
She serves tea and oranges from China.
That come all the way from China
Exotic offerings from Suzanne.
And just when you mean to tell her
Just as you're about to express your lack of love...
That you have no love to give her
...she tunes into your wavelength.
Then she gets you on her wavelength
The river responds to your connection with Suzanne.
And she lets the river answer
Confirming your enduring love for her.
That you've always been her lover
You've always been her lover.
And you want to travel with her
You desire to travel with Suzanne.
And you want to travel blind
You want to travel without preconceptions.
And you know that she will trust you
You trust that Suzanne will understand.
For you've touched her perfect body with your mind.
Your connection transcends the physical.
And Jesus was a sailor
Shifting to Jesus, portraying him as a sailor.
When he walked upon the water
His miraculous walk on water is mentioned.
And he spent a long time watching
Observing from a lonely tower.
From his lonely wooden tower
Jesus realizes only drowning men can perceive him.
And when he knew for certain
Declaring all men will be sailors until liberated by the sea.
Only drowning men could see him
He acknowledges his own brokenness.
He said "All men will be sailors then
Envisioning humanity's liberation by the sea.
Until the sea shall free them"
Humanity's freedom is dependent on the sea.
But he himself was broken
Jesus, broken before the awaited freedom.
Long before the sky would open
Anticipating an opening sky.
Forsaken, almost human
Feeling forsaken and almost human.
He sank beneath your wisdom like a stone
Sinking beneath wisdom like a stone.
And you want to travel with him
You desire to travel with Jesus.
And you want to travel blind
Similar to the desire with Suzanne, you want to travel without sight.
And you think maybe you'll trust him
You contemplate trusting Jesus.
For he's touched your perfect body with his mind.
His connection is spiritual, touching your perfect body with his mind.
Now Suzanne takes your hand
Suzanne takes your hand, guiding you to the river.
And she leads you to the river
The journey with Suzanne continues.
She is wearing rags and feathers
Suzanne is adorned with humble attire.
From Salvation Army counters
Clothing from the Salvation Army.
And the sun pours down like honey
Sunlight bathes the lady of the harbor.
On our lady of the harbor
The surroundings become picturesque.
And she shows you where to look
She directs your attention to hidden beauty.
Among the garbage and the flowers
Among the undesirable, there is beauty.
There are heroes in the seaweed
Heroes exist even in difficult situations.
There are children in the morning
Children represent hope in the morning.
They are leaning out for love
They reach out for love enduringly.
And they will lean that way forever
Their longing persists.
While Suzanne holds the mirror
Suzanne holds a mirror, reflecting the reality.
And you want to travel with her
Your desire to travel with her remains.
And you want to travel blind
You still want to travel without sight.
And you know that you can trust her
You trust Suzanne completely.
For she's touched your perfect body with her mind.
Her connection has touched your perfect body with her mind.
