Where I Am
Embracing Life's Rhythm: Where I Am by New Model ArmyLyrics
He said – I get a dollar a day to watch the cars
Observing the cars of the wealthy, earning a dollar a day
Of the rich come down for the beach and bars
Wealthy individuals coming to the beach and bars
Their distracted faces always looking away
The distracted faces of the rich looking away
But I’m OK I just watch the sea
Content with watching the sea, identifying with its rhythm
The rise and fall like it’s inside of me
The sea's rise and fall representing inner emotions
And no two days the same
Emphasizing the variability of each day
I am where I am, I’m not so hard to find
Self-awareness and acceptance of one's current state
I do what I can with what they leave behind
Utilizing available resources to make the best of the situation
I’m with who I’m with, I speak with who is near
Being with those in proximity, communicating with immediate surroundings
Come back, I am here
Requesting others to return, expressing a sense of presence
Into all the empty spaces leer a hundred thousand faces
Noticing numerous faces and voices, but maintaining detachment
Scream a hundred million voices if you let them come
Awareness of potential chaos if external influences are allowed in
But I just feel the breath of wind that dries the sweat upon my skin
Focusing on the natural elements, feeling the wind
Slowly breathing out and breathing in
Conscious breathing, being in tune with oneself
I am where I am, I’m not so hard to find…
Reiteration of self-awareness and easy accessibility
It seems like everybody wants to be somewhere else
Observation that everyone desires to be elsewhere
Everybody wants to be someone else…
Universal desire for a different identity
The wind blows the water, patterns racing across the bay
Nature's influence on elements, emphasizing interconnectedness
And the sand slides through fingers and it’s all made from the same
Sand and water representing the same essence, unity in diversity
For what you touch is what makes you, is there beside you always
Your experiences shape you, always present beside you
There are people that I’ll never know from places that I’ll never go
Acknowledging the vastness of unknown people and places
They play their dramas out from scene to scene
Comparing life to a series of unfolding dramas
But the insects crawl through blades of grass
Noting the persistence of life's smaller details
The summer storms they slowly pass
Transient nature of challenges, storms passing by
The colours change in the arcing of the sun
Appreciating the changing colors with the sun's movement
I am where I am, I’m not so hard to find
Reiteration of being present and easily accessible
