Lyrics
The world is on fire
The world is in a state of crisis or chaos.
We spit what we feel and if we disagree then our worlds are divided
Expressing emotions openly, but disagreement leads to division.
Shame other ones to be gaining the ground but we're all getting tired
Shaming others to gain advantage, yet everyone is becoming weary.
We're all getting tired
A repetition emphasizing the fatigue experienced by all.
Stuck with our own views
Trapped in individual perspectives, unable to understand others.
Cause we can't walk a mile in the other one's shoes
Difficulty empathizing due to the inability to walk in others' shoes.
Break the walls that they broke through
Encouragement to break down barriers erected by others.
So we're all sinking in the illusion that my own truth is the whole truth,
All sinking into the illusion that one's truth is the only truth.
That my truth is the whole truth
Reiteration of the danger in believing one's truth is absolute.
Mother, mother, mother
Plea to the mother figure, questioning if seeking cover is necessary.
Should we all just run for cover, cover, cover
-We can't do this anymore
An acknowledgment that the current situation is unsustainable.
We can't do this anymore
-Mother, mother, mother
Addressing the neglect of others, emphasizing a shared humanity.
We forgot about the others, others, others
-Behind the enemy line
Being on opposing sides but experiencing similar pain under the same sky.
But we all hurt under the same sky
-Looking for bad blood
Searching for conflict or negativity among people.
So quick to judge but who's really gonna be casting the first stone
Quick judgments, questioning who has the right to condemn others.
There's gotta be room for redemption
Advocating for redemption despite wrongdoings by everyone.
Cause everybody's done wrong, everybody's done wrong
Recognition that everyone has made mistakes.
We don't think alike, look alike
Highlighting differences in thinking and appearance.
We were taught different things at bed time
Varied upbringing and lessons, especially at bedtime.
When they kissed us good night
Reflecting on parental affection before bedtime.
Every path was different it's clear we'd see things in different light
Different life paths leading to diverse perspectives.
Still, it's hate on all sides
Despite differences, hatred persists on all sides.
Mother, mother, mother
Returning to the plea for cover, questioning its necessity.
Should we all just run for cover, cover, cover
-We can't do this anymore
Reiterating the impossibility of continuing the current state.
We can't do this anymore
-Mother, mother, mother
Highlighting neglect of others behind enemy lines, yet sharing the same pain.
We forgot about the others, others, others
-Behind the enemy line
Emphasizing commonality under the vast sky despite opposing positions.
But we all hurt under the same sky
-Mother, mother, mother
A repetition of the plea to the mother figure.
