Black Box
Surviving the Crash: No Use for a Name's Black Box RevelationLyrics
Up here sedated in my seat,
Expressing a state of being numbed or detached in a high place.
Can't wait until I can see my feet
Anticipation of regaining control or sobriety.
And run away from stupid things I've said
Desire to escape the consequences of spoken words.
I'll be here a few days from now,
Projection into the future, contemplating being in the same situation.
We'll talk about it when I come down
Planning to discuss the situation after recovery.
If we make it this time, I'll clean the stain I've bled
If survival is achieved, a commitment to rectify mistakes.
Our worlds collide in new beginnings
Highlighting the convergence of two lives starting anew.
It's an emergency permission to bail out
Emergency acknowledgment to abandon the current situation.
So when the heart crash lands,
Imagining the aftermath of an emotional "crash."
What memories will survive?
Contemplating which memories will endure after emotional turmoil.
I thank my black box that I'm alive
Gratitude for surviving and alluding to a metaphorical "black box."
I feel unlucky today, can't wash the panic off my face
Feeling unfortunate with visible anxiety, unable to shake it off.
Didn't learn a thing from the last time
Acknowledging a lack of learning from past experiences.
It's so selfish to be so confused,
Self-criticism for being confused despite selfish motives.
Heart beats like rapid fire
Heart palpitations, a physical manifestation of stress.
So close to the edge but far away in mind
Being on the brink emotionally but distant mentally.
Two days to go until I see you
Countdown to a significant event, possibly a reunion.
Looks like we can call the ambulance down there
Suggesting the need for urgent intervention or help.
My head is touching down I've learned to be afraid
Feeling fear upon returning to reality, possibly after an escape.
I thank my black box that you're the same
Expressing gratitude for the consistency of a significant other.
