Lyrics

My hope is built on nothing less

My hope is founded on nothing else but Jesus Christ.

Than Jesus' blood and righteousness

I rely solely on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus and his perfect righteousness.

I dare not trust the sweetest frame,

I won't place my confidence in anything temporary or fleeting.

But wholly lean on Jesus' name.

Instead, I completely depend on the authority and power represented by Jesus' name.

On Christ, the solid rock, I stand

My firm foundation is Jesus Christ, the unchanging and dependable rock.

All other ground is sinking sand,

All other foundations or beliefs are unstable and will fail.

All other ground is sinking sand.

Anything apart from Jesus will ultimately prove unreliable.

When darkness veils his lovely face,

Even when I can't perceive God's presence or feel distant from Him,

I rest on his unchanging grace

I find my assurance in His unchanging and constant grace.

In every high and stormy gale,

In every difficult and tumultuous situation,

My anchor holds within the veil.

My faith remains firm, anchored securely in God.

His oath, his covenant, his blood

God's promises, His agreement, and the shedding of His blood

Support me in the whelming flood

Support and strengthen me in overwhelming circumstances.

When all around my soul gives way,

Even when everything around me collapses and gives way,

He then is all my hope and stay.

At that moment, Jesus becomes my sole source of hope and support.

When he shall come with trumpet sound,

When Jesus returns with the sound of the trumpet,

O may I then in him be found!

I earnestly desire to be found in Him, completely identified with Him.

Dressed in his righteousness alone,

Dressed only in His perfect righteousness,

Faultless to stand before the throne!

I long to stand blameless before God's throne.
