Lyrics
Once I lost my direction
Experiencing a loss of direction or purpose.
Searching for what I should do
Engaged in a search for one's true calling or path.
I looked left I looked right I looked up I looked down
Thoroughly exploring all possible directions, both physically and metaphorically.
Feeling in the dark for clues
Feeling uncertain and searching blindly for guidance or signs.
If only I had paid attention
Regretting a lack of attention to something known all along.
To what I had known all along
Realizing the solution was apparent but not acknowledged.
The answer sat right in front of my face
The answer was evident but overlooked, possibly due to overthinking.
Instead I listed pros and cons
Choosing to analyze the situation with a list of pros and cons instead of trusting intuition.
Won't say that I liked it in the moment
Admitting discomfort or displeasure with the past.
Won't say that I'd wish it on you
Not wishing a similar experience on someone else.
But they say that these things make you more of yourself
Acknowledging that challenging experiences contribute to personal growth.
That's something I won't argue
Accepting the idea that facing difficulties shapes one's identity.
Once I lost my direction
Repeating the theme of losing direction, emphasizing a recurring struggle.
Didn't recognize the voice in my mouth
Being unfamiliar with one's own thoughts or feelings.
Lips held shut by an unseen hand
Feeling silenced or restrained by unseen forces.
I could hear it scream and shout
Hearing inner turmoil or conflict expressed vocally.
Walked around full of tension
Experiencing internal pressure and constraint.
Stuck and bursting at the seams
Feeling stuck and overwhelmed, close to reaching a breaking point.
Till one day in the car all alone
Recalling a specific moment of liberation, breaking free from constraints.
I bit that hand, I broke free
Asserting independence by overcoming internal limitations.
Won't say that I liked it in the moment
Reiterating discomfort with the past, emphasizing the non-preferable nature of the experience.
Won't say that I'd wish it on you
Continuing to express a lack of desire for others to go through similar challenges.
But they say that these things make you more of yourself
Affirming the transformative nature of difficult experiences.
That's something I won't argue
Stressing the inevitability of personal growth through challenges.
Won't say that I liked it in the moment
Repeating the aversion to the past, maintaining a consistent stance.
Won't say that I'd wish it on you
Reiterating the lack of desire for others to undergo similar hardships.
But they say that these things make you more of yourself
Emphasizing the idea that challenges contribute positively to self-discovery.
That's something I won't argue
Affirming the belief in the transformative power of challenging experiences.
