A Bullet for Everyone
A Call for Harmony: Decoding Paul Weller's Poetic MessageLyrics
Everybody doing it
People engaging in certain actions or behaviors
Doing it real good
Performing those actions exceptionally well
Everybody knowing it
Everyone aware or cognizant of it
Like they know they should
Acting in a way that aligns with societal expectations
Shiny sabres rattling
Symbolic reference to military power or authority
Long into the night
Persisting for an extended period, possibly through challenges
And everybody saying it
Publicly expressing opinions or ideas freely
Saying what they like
Expressing personal preferences or viewpoints openly
There are words there to inspire you
Words meant to motivate or stimulate
There are words there to be heard
Words deserving attention or consideration
Maybe none of them will fire you
Possibly words that won't harm but still command attention
But none the less they will make you listen by force.
Despite lacking force, they compel attention through other means
Everybody shouting it
Loud and widespread expression of ideas or opinions
From every place on high
From various authoritative or influential sources
Everybody loving it
People enjoying or approving of what they discover
Loving what they find
Appreciating what is encountered or experienced
There's blood upon each handshake
Suggesting deceit or dishonesty in agreements
Lies upon each word
Lies or falsehoods in every spoken word
And everybody killing it
Destructive actions prevailing over positive ones
Killing off what's good
Destroying valuable or virtuous elements
There are holes in the divisions
Visible gaps or disparities between social classes
Between the haves and who have nots
Implies a bomb threat for every city, causing uncertainty
There's a bomb for every city
Emphasizing the widespread threat of violence
Now they don't know where to stop
Difficulty in controlling the escalation of violence
And they say there's no provisions
Suggesting insufficient resources or support
There's not enough to go round
Shortage of resources contributing to societal issues
But when it comes to the gun there's a bullet for everyone
Gun violence affecting everyone, no one exempt
When it comes to the gun there's a bullet for everyone
Reiterating the ubiquity of gun violence
Everybody wanting it
Desire for an end to certain actions or situations
Wanting it to stop
Wishing for cessation or resolution
The chaos and destruction
Emphasizing disorder and devastation
The bloodshed on the rocks
Violence resulting in bloodshed and chaos
The pain and deprivation
Expressing the negative consequences of conflict
The losses and the grief
The suffering and loss caused by conflicts
The tired, worn out promises
Promises made by politicians but not fulfilled
Of the politicians' brief
Shortcomings in political commitments
There are holes in the divisions
Visible gaps or disparities between social classes (repeated)
Between the haves and who have nots
Reiteration of social inequality
There's a bomb for every city
Reiterating the widespread threat of violence (repeated)

Emphasizing uncertainty and lack of control (repeated)
And they say there's no provisions
Reiterating insufficient resources or support (repeated)

When it comes to the gun there's a bullet for everyone
Underlining the universality of gun violence (repeated)
