But I'm not buying it.
Rejecting the presented narrative and refusing to accept it.
They say if you're not working
Highlighting the societal expectation that not working is considered wasteful.
You're just wasting away,
Challenging the notion that work is the sole measure of value and worth.
"Employment gaps look bad on your resume"...
Commenting on the negative impact of employment gaps on a person's resume.
But I'm not buying, I'm not buying,
Rejecting the offered incentives, exposing them as deceptive, and criticizing the theft of life through false promises.
I'm not buying their incentives, their lies,
-Their empty promises -- just chains in disguise
--- while we let them steal away our very lives!
-Tell me why there's still a 40 hour work week
Raising questions about the disparities in working hours, unemployment, overproduction, survival challenges, and food distribution.
While unemployment's on the rise?
-Why do we keep overproducing
-But still it's hard just to survive?
-Why does "surplus" food rot
-While hungry people die??
-We're stripped of human dignity,
Stating that human dignity is compromised, poverty is enforced, and the proclaimed freedom is illusory.
Forced to live in poverty,
-'cause in this land of the free
-Our "freedom" is all fake.
-We're wage slaves to the company,
Describing people as wage slaves to companies, land slaves to property, and tax slaves to the capitalist state.
Land slaves to the property,
-And tax slaves to the economy
-Of the capitalist state!
-It's illegal to squat or live on the street,
Questioning the legality of squatting while criticizing the high cost of rent.
But rent is extortion when you have to pay to sleep...
-But I'm not buying it. ..
-We're just endentured servants
Depicting individuals as indentured servants attempting to buy back their freedom, emphasizing the rejection of this system.
Living on the master's land,
-Serfs trying to buy back
-Our freedom on the lay-away plan...
