You're Not Home Yet
Journey of Faith: A Protectoral Preacher's Homecoming TaleLyrics
(You're not home you're not home you're not home yet
You haven't reached home yet; repeated for emphasis.
I can still hear my Lord's voice ringing
Despite not being home, the preacher can still hear the voice of the Lord.
There'll be a crowd to greet you a choir of angels to meet you)
Upon arrival, there will be a joyous reception with a crowd and a choir of angels.
If you've got two or three minutes I'd like to tell you a story
The singer wants to share a story.
It's a story about a preacher
The story is about a preacher.
But this story I wanna tell you is about a protectoral preacher
Emphasis on the preacher's protective nature.
Who went over seas to fight a war
The preacher went abroad to participate in a war.
Now this is a war forgot and not for any country
The war was not for any specific country.
And he fought a long long time and he won a lot of souls
The preacher spent a long time in the war, winning many souls.
But finally this preacher got old and he was coming home
After aging, the preacher was returning home.
He just happened to be on the same ship with someone who we call a famous celebry
He shared the ship with a famous celebrity.
When the boat docked there were thousands there to meet the celebrity
Upon arrival, the celebrity had a grand reception with thousands of people.
And they carried him off of his shoulders
They carried the celebrity on their shoulders.
But you there wasn't no one there to meet the preacher
Contrastingly, there was no one to meet the preacher.
And he looked into the heavens and said God did you forget
The preacher felt neglected and questioned if God forgot him.
And it seemed like the heavens broke open
A dramatic moment as the heavens seem to respond.
And he said no son I didn't forget but you must remember that you're not home yet
God reassures the preacher that he's not forgotten but reminds him that he's not yet home.
(You're not home...
Reiteration: You're not home yet.
I didn't forget but son you're not home yet
God repeats the assurance that the preacher is not forgotten, emphasizing he's not home yet.
