Caught out by expectation that's the real villain

Holding on but what to? This cocktail of anger and blame it don't taste nice
Clutching onto emotions, unsure of their purpose, acknowledging a mix of anger and blame that is unpleasant.
Easier to hate you
Expressing that it's simpler to harbor resentment.
But I don't even though that I try
Despite efforts to hate, acknowledging an inability to do so.
Only regret the chances we didn't take
Regretting missed opportunities rather than actions taken.
Leave with a story that you can tell
Choosing to leave with a memorable experience or lesson.
Might take a minute but hearts will unbreak
Recognizing that healing takes time, but hearts will eventually mend.
Wounds turn to wisdom I wish you well
Transforming emotional wounds into valuable wisdom, expressing well-wishing.
People said we were stupid and now they gloat
Acknowledging external criticism and the satisfaction of others in the face of past decisions.
But somehow if we could rewind I'd still have hope
Expressing a desire to rewind time despite external opinions, emphasizing hope.
Cos I'd know better what to do
Recognizing the potential for better decisions with hindsight.
I could use all of this new strength I've grown
Highlighting personal growth and strength gained through experiences.
But in the end it takes two

And so I'm happy that we let go
