Unattained
Unattained Reward: A Poetic Critique of Belief and ExistenceLyrics
Righteousness reaching out cunning hands,
Indicates how righteousness uses deceitful methods.
Molding minds of the meek
Shaping the thoughts of the submissive.
Mind-fucked by the hope of a promised land,
Feeling mentally manipulated by the promise of a better place.
Unattained reward not received
An expected reward that remains unachieved.
A pious purpose, automated response,
A purpose driven by religious fervor, lacking genuine emotion.
A synthetic, sympathetic reaction
Showing artificial compassion in response.
In sheltered simplicity emotions are lost,
In a sheltered life, emotions are suppressed and lost.
To dispassionate stupefaction
Resulting in an indifferent and apathetic state.
An innocent indoctrination, numbing mind-conversion,
Innocent minds being conditioned and dulled.
Thoughts beaten down while spirit drowns in ignorance immersion
Conscious thoughts subdued, drowned in ignorance.
(Abandon all hope) see, feel, hear and taste nothing,
Encouraging to abandon hope and senses.
(Within and without) surrounded by suffering,
Being surrounded by suffering internally and externally.
(Deliver) me from my senses
Asking to be liberated from sensory experiences.
Spurn the consolation of religion,
Rejecting the solace of religion and false hopes.
And illusions of immortality
Refuting the illusions of everlasting life.
When your savor eternal suffering,
When one embraces eternal suffering.
Purged, purified, you'll be set free
Being purified and liberated through suffering.
Desperately I seek truth
Expressing a desperate quest for truth.
From thoughts running through my mind
Seeking truth amidst thoughts.
Striving forward with baited breath
Struggling forward eagerly.
I reach for what it hides
Striving to grasp elusive truth.
An innocent indoctrination, numbing mind-conversion
Repetition of innocent minds being conditioned.
Thoughts beaten down while spirit drowns in ignorance immersion
Repeated drowning of spirit due to ignorance.
(Abandon all hope) see, feel, hear and taste nothing
Encouragement to abandon all sensory experiences and hope.
(Within and without) surrounded by suffering
Surrounded by suffering both internally and externally.
(Deliver) me from my senses
Desire to be freed from sensory perceptions.
