I'm drowning in my thirteenth drink
I'm overwhelmed by my thirteenth alcoholic drink.
Stranded in this place all night
Stuck in this location throughout the night.
And down into my stool I'll sink
Sinking down onto my barstool.
A lighthouse without a light
Feeling like a lighthouse without a guiding light.
So forgive me Thomas Edison
Apologizing to Thomas Edison for the absence of a ship in sight, a metaphorical expression of feeling lost or directionless.
But there ain't no ship in sight
Reiterating the lack of a visible solution or salvation.
I'm taking my medicine
Taking medication, possibly alluding to coping mechanisms or attempts to alleviate distress.
So, kill the light
An urging to extinguish the light, possibly signifying a desire to escape or embrace darkness.
We love at the speed of sound
Love operates swiftly and harmoniously, contrasted with the next line.
But we murder at the speed of light

And we panic when it all comes down

We blast off into the night
Launching into the unknown or chaotic situations during challenging times.
And the universe whispers in your ear
The vastness of the universe communicates a foreboding message.
All the stars and the satellites
A reminder of the numerous challenges and artificial objects surrounding us.
"There's nowhere but down from here"
An acknowledgment that things can only get worse from the current state.
So, kill the lights
A repetition of the earlier plea to extinguish the lights, emphasizing the desire for escape.
So believe me when I say it's true
Asserting the truthfulness of the advice being given, possibly in a paternal or protective manner.
This big brotherly advice
