As I get older
Reflecting on the aging process
The nights get longer
Perception of time increasing, possibly with challenges
My body stronger
Physical strength improving with age
But what of yours?
Concern for the well-being of someone else
I am alright now
Current well-being and stability
But what of tomorrow?
Contemplation about the uncertainties of the future
Will it have sorrow?
Questioning if the future holds challenges or sorrow
What is in store?
Curiosity about what lies ahead
And as my health seems to excel
Observing personal health improvement
I see my friends caught up in spells
Concern for friends facing issues like substance abuse
Of alcohol and nicotine abuse
Specifically, alcohol and nicotine problems among friends
My family is doing fine
Positive outlook on the well-being of the family
But age will catch up to them in time
Acknowledgment that aging affects everyone, including family
I worry by the phone for bad news
Anxiety about potential bad news related to family
As I get older
Reiteration of the aging process
The nights get colder

No mother’s shoulder
Lack of maternal comfort or support
To sleep upon
Feeling alone and without a comforting figure

But growing up isn’t the hardest thing to do
