Lyrics
I got neighbors who don’t realize they got neighbors
I have neighbors who are unaware of their own neighbors.
Who do everything right
These neighbors follow societal norms and rules.
Midday, morning, even at night but they’re out of sight
They are active throughout the day but remain unseen.
I use to have a good neighbor that I liked a lot
I used to have a friendly neighbor whom I admired.
They mowed their grass a little too fast
They maintained their lawn quickly, though perhaps too much so.
But they always had great pot
Despite this, they were known for having excellent marijuana.
Now the pot they got might be bought
Now they may buy their marijuana from neighbors across the way.
From the brothers across the way
These neighbors across the way are likely different individuals.
They got a motorbike that I kind of like
They own a motorbike that I find appealing.
They only ride it when it rains
However, they only use it when it rains.
I got neighbors who don’t realize they got neighbors
Reiteration of neighbors who are oblivious to their surroundings.
Who like to criticize and everything they own illuminates at night but they’re out of sight
These neighbors tend to criticize, and their possessions are bright at night but hidden.
Next to them is a vacant lot with one tall leaning pine
Next to them is an empty space with a leaning pine tree.
It sits a little too close to the light post that carries the power line
This tree is uncomfortably close to a power line.
Two doors down lives a family of clowns acting like they’re on TV
Two doors down, there is a family acting like clowns, possibly seeking attention.
I’m pretty sure I know more about them than I do my own family
The narrator feels more familiar with these neighbors than their own family.
I got neighbors who don’t realize they got neighbors
Reiteration of neighbors who remain unaware of their surroundings.
Who like to sleep at night
These neighbors prefer to sleep at night.
Everybody’s dog is getting ready for a fight but they’re out of sight
Despite this, their dogs are preparing for a fight.
Next to me is now a B&B more or less a revolving door
Next to the narrator is now a Bed and Breakfast, constantly hosting new people.
And the mail trucks seem to keep up delivering groceries stores
Mail trucks frequently deliver groceries to this location.
My favorite neighbor lives down the street I see them every other day
The narrator's favorite neighbor lives down the street, and they meet every other day.
If we lived any closer to one another we’d run out of things to say
Proximity to this neighbor is limited to avoid running out of things to say.
I got neighbors who don’t realize they got neighbors
Reiteration of neighbors who are oblivious to their surroundings.
Who do everything right
These neighbors consistently follow societal norms throughout the day.
Midday, morning, even at night but they’re out of sight
They remain unseen despite being active during different times of the day.
