I have experienced a wide range of emotional states.
Trying to hear a new word from God
Attempting to receive a new message from God.
And I think it's very odd,
Expressing surprise at the situation.
That while I attempt to help myself

My Bible sits upon my shelf
My Bible remains untouched on my shelf.
With every promise
Containing every promise I might need.
I could ever need

And the Word was
Reference to the eternal nature of the Word of God.
And the Word is
Continuing emphasis on the enduring nature of the Word.
And the Word will be
Highlighting the timeless existence of the Word.
The old Word is the new Word is
Connection between the old and new Word.
The old Word is the new Word is
Reiteration of the connection between old and new Word.
People are getting fit for Truth
People actively seeking truth like fitting a tailored suit.
Like they're buying a new tailored suit
Comparing the search for truth to buying clothing.
Does it fit across the shoulders
Checking if the truth 'fits' in one's life.
Does it fade when it gets older
Questioning the endurance of the truth over time.
We throw ideas that aren't in style
Discarding unpopular ideas in a symbolic way.
In the Salvation Army pile
Discarded ideas end up in the Salvation Army pile.
And search for something more to meet our needs
Searching for something more to fulfill our needs.
I think it's time I rediscover
Expressing a need to rediscover previous experiences.
All the ground that I have covered, like
Reflecting on the extensive journey taken.
Seek Ye first what a verse
Quoting "Seek Ye first" as a reminder of priorities.
We are pressed but not crushed,
Despite challenges, not overwhelmed.
Perplexed but don't despair.
Experiencing confusion but not losing hope.
We are persecuted but not abandoned
Facing persecution but not feeling abandoned.
We are no longer slaves
No longer bound as slaves but free.
We are daughters and sons,
Identification as daughters and sons of God.
And when we are weak
In times of weakness, there is strength.
We are very strong
Emphasizing strength despite vulnerability.
And neither death nor life
Nothing can separate from the love of Christ.
Nor present nor future
Highlighting the enduring nature of Christ's love.
Nor depth nor height
Reference to the vastness that cannot separate from love.
Can keep us from the love of Christ
Emphasizing the unbreakable connection to Christ's love.
And the Word I need
Expressing the need for the Word.
Is the Word that was
The Word that was present from the beginning.
Who put on flesh to dwell with us.
Reflecting on the incarnation of the Word in flesh.
In the beginning
Referencing the beginning of creation.
