Metaphorically trapped in a challenging situation, not the game Dungeons & Dragons.

Liberating oneself by confronting and revealing hidden struggles.

Who they said that I would be, or said that I should be

Defying others' expectations and societal norms.

Since back when we was puttin back packs in the cubbies

Recalling a time when backpacks were placed in cubbies, symbolizing a younger age.

I dream about a life of success it's so lovely

Dreaming of a successful life that seems appealing.

The pain of everyday stressing wouldn't be on me

Expressing a desire to escape the daily stress and pain.


On my shoulders I shrug it you either hate it or love it

Indifference to opinions, either being loved or hated.

The underdogs on top they couldn't win it or cover

Underlining the success of underdogs despite skepticism.

The spread is food for the soul, i let these fools get ahold

Comparing wisdom to food for the soul, sharing experiences gained on the road.

Of some of this wisdom accumulated while out on the road

Acknowledging that some may dislike the acquired wisdom and change their attitude.

I know some people had grew to hate it they changing they tone

Recognizing people's varying reactions to personal growth.

I know some look at this pure amazement and say that I'm cold

Being observed with amazement, possibly due to transformation.

I know some look at me dead in my eyes and lie somethin bold

Encountering bold lies when looked in the eyes.

I can't lie I did the same too I reap what I sew

Admitting to the same act of lying as others, facing consequences.

I pray I never let go, grip on humanity close

Expressing a prayer to maintain a strong grip on humanity.

Ain't in my nature to quit, I guess the man in me knows

Stating determination not to quit, acknowledging a leadership role of women in life.

Then again women in my life they played a leadership role

Reflecting on the influence of women in shaping one's understanding of life.

So who am I to say that line when I seen just how it goes

Recognizing the variability of life experiences and refraining from making definitive statements.

I pray I keep in line with what I hold true in my heart

Expressing a hope to stay true to personal beliefs and values.

I pray the listeners can see just what I put in my art

Hoping that listeners can perceive the sincerity and effort put into the art.

I pray I finish with the same fire I had in the start

Praying for the same passion and fire that started the journey to persist until the end.

I pray they know this really me and I ain't playin a part
