Wound
Embracing Scars: Shayan Regan's Poetic Journey Through Pain and HealingLyrics
Do what you must
Implying the necessity of action despite its consequences
Don't let me stay
Asking not to be persuaded to remain
Repeat the things that hurt me every time
Repeating actions or words that cause emotional pain
Now do it all again
Requesting a repetition of hurtful actions
Say what you should
Encouraging truthful expression despite its difficulty
Make it hard to live
Causing hardship in life
Cause I'm trying to get used to
Struggling to adjust to the emotional wounds inflicted
The scars that you give
Adapting to the scars left behind by someone
And you never cared to look back, you just went down your way
Unconcerned about the repercussions on the other person's part
You know that I've never been too good at, the way I hide my pain
Difficulty in hiding emotional pain
So it'll grow all over, as I keep growing older, I'll get used to the way I feel
Expectation of enduring pain as one grows older
I've lived so far with this pain, you never heard me complain, but before you stab me again
Enduring pain silently but pleading not to be hurt again
Wait for the wound, the wound to heal
Requesting patience before inflicting further pain
I know it's hard cause' it's true
Acknowledging the difficulty of a situation
But what good would it do?
Questioning the purpose of causing harm
Give the world another fool
Fear of being seen as foolish by the world
And you know that too
Awareness of the mutual understanding of the situation
So let me if I bleed
Allowing oneself to be vulnerable and bleed emotionally
Put my soul to sleep
Seeking peace or relief for the soul
And walk away if other than this
Permission to leave if elsewhere is preferred
There's someplace you'd rather be
Not willing to forgive but staying together despite the passing of time
And I won't forgive you, but I'll still be with you, because time blows away these things
Acknowledging the pain of truth and imperfections
And I know truth hurts, and that nobody's perfect, do you hate me when I say these things?
Recognizing the discomfort caused by honest statements
So grow all over, we keep growing older, so used to the way we feel
Adapting to feelings as time passes and acknowledging imperfections
We'll go back to what we were, blame it all on the fever
Returning to past states and attributing blame to external factors
I could kiss your feet, I'll kneel
Expressing extreme reverence or submission
Cause hear me you, let's be honest, we are both on our lowest
Admitting both parties are at a low point
We can try all we need
Encouraging effort despite difficulties
Give it years to scab on, with each other's hands to grab on,
Seeking time for wounds to partially heal while holding onto each other
Try and tape the pieces back on
Attempting to mend broken pieces despite the impossibility of complete healing
But the wound
Emphasizing the enduring nature of emotional wounds
The wound will never heal
Stating the impossibility of complete healing for the wound
