Expressing the difficulty in understanding or perceiving the true situation.
I know at times
Recognizing that everyone experiences moments of losing their drive or goals.
We all lose our ambition
Noticing the person's feelings of isolation and fear.
But you seem lonesome and afraid
Expressing uncertainty about the person's ability to improve their situation.
And I don't know that
Uncertain about the possibility of the person recovering or making changes.
You'll ever get yourself together
Unsure if there will be any positive alterations in the person's circumstances.
Or if anything will change
Reiterating the potential need for making an effort or attempting something.
If you have to try
Repeating the suggestion that attempting might be a better course of action.

Recognizing the other person's lack of knowledge or understanding.
Maybe you'd better
Suggesting that perhaps making an attempt could be more beneficial.
