You imagine you've adventured
Imagining oneself on an adventure, but the reality is different.

Thinking of reaching a shore but actually falling down in Brooklyn, contrasting imagination with reality.
But you really just fell down in Brooklyn

Friends warning about getting deeply involved and the difficulty of backing out.
Yeah, you were going to help her move
Questioning the possibility of taking action once committed.
But your friends said once you're in that deep

There's really nothing you can do
Reiteration of the entitlement to youthful fun and reflection on it.
