My Head Became a Pool
City Ghosts and Broken Rules: Soft Idiot's Poetic ReflectionLyrics
From way out here
Expressing a perspective from a distant place
I can see the ghost of the city floating distant
Observing the distant, ethereal presence of the city
And drawing near
The city is approaching, becoming more tangible
I can't explain
Unable to articulate a certain experience or feeling
Something pretty and sweet to suck on
Seeking something beautiful and comforting to alleviate pain
To ease my pain
Desiring a source of solace to ease emotional distress
'Cause you get tired and your brain gets sore
Reflecting on the fatigue and mental exhaustion when there's no meaningful purpose
When there's nothing you're fighting for
The struggle when lacking a cause or goal to fight for
Scattershot
Using a scattered approach or random actions
I took the train into town last Sunday
Traveling to the city on a Sunday for a forgotten reason
For something I forgot
The purpose of the journey remains unclear
Thought I saw your face
Perceiving a familiar face but uncertain due to distance
But from this distance I can't tell if you're coming closer
Ambiguity about whether the person is approaching or moving away
Or walking away
Noticing the person's fatigue and worn expression
But you looked tired and your face is worn
Questioning if there's a meaningful purpose the person is pursuing
Is there something you're fighting for
Continuing the theme of searching for a purpose or cause
A calling crashing from the sky
Reference to a celestial or impactful event
Captured like the light
Describing something significant, perhaps a memory
On the riverbed
Depicting a captured moment, like light on a riverbed
Well I broke my only rule
Breaking a personal rule, possibly leading to consequences
And my head became a pool
Consequence of breaking a rule—head filled with confusion or regret
Full of fallen leaves
The aftermath, a mental state filled with fallen leaves symbolizing loss or change
