The news reports that the king has died.
The people said what we need instead
The general public expressed a need for something different.
Is to be on our own
They desire independence or autonomy.
But people, they do the strangest things
People can behave unpredictably or strangely.
You never know what they might do
It's impossible to predict people's actions when they're left to themselves.
When they are left alone
When left alone, people can act unexpectedly or erratically.
There's men without gods and gods without men
There are individuals without beliefs and beliefs without individuals.
And a spirit of which none of them can transcend
There's a sense or essence that none of them can surpass or surpasses them.
But something peculiar is happening
Something unusual or strange is occurring.
We should just be happy with just what we've got
We should be content with what we have.
And the problems should be too few to mention
Problems should be minimal or not worth mentioning, but they are not.
But they're not
Contrary to expectations, problems persist.
Where can I go for some information?
Searching for information or knowledge.
So tired of the big sensation
Fed up with exaggerated or sensationalized news.
I need to know what's going on
Desire to understand the current situation.
Oh well you're the well-informed
Addressing someone who is well-informed or knowledgeable.
Into your world which I was born
Referring to someone who is familiar with a specific environment or context.
My friend, here's to you
Toasting or honoring a friend.
How would I know if there was something wrong
Difficulty recognizing or identifying problems.
When the weak of heart out-survive the strong
Instances where the emotionally weaker individuals outlast the stronger ones.
The truth is almost always confidential
Truth is often kept confidential or hidden.
You never know just what you've got until it's gone
Realizing the value of something only after losing it.
And your friends have never seemed so essential
Friends become more crucial or necessary when mistakes are made.
When you're wrong
When incorrect or mistaken, the importance of friends becomes evident.

I know this might sound strange, don't ever change
Advice to remain the same, not change.
Amazingly unfaceable, entirely replaceable
Incredibly difficult to confront or challenge, but replaceable.
There's nothing I would rearrange, don't ever change
Encouragement to maintain status quo, not alter.
Out of luck, out of space, out of time, out of place
Feeling devoid of luck, space, time, or belonging.
Don't try to save face my friend
Don't try to preserve one's dignity or reputation.
There was a time and there was a place
A time and place once existed for certain attributes, but they've disappeared.
For your face and for your race but it's been swept away
Specific attributes or qualities have been eradicated or lost.
