I Am a Wanderer
Wanderer's Quest: Seeking Freedom and BelongingLyrics
I am a wanderer feet on the ground
I identify as a wanderer with a practical connection to the earth.
Heart on my sleeve and my head in the clouds
I openly display my emotions (heart on my sleeve) while maintaining a dreamy, imaginative mindset (head in the clouds).
Eye on a star above some distant shore
I have my sights set on a distant goal represented by a star over an unknown shore.
Wandering ever more
I am continually moving and exploring.
I am a refugee torn from my land
I am a displaced person forced away from my homeland.
Cast off to travel this world to its end
I am destined to travel the world extensively.
Never to see my proud mountains again
I won't return to the proud mountains of my origin.
But I still remember them
Despite the displacement, I retain vivid memories of my homeland.
I am a laborer sign round my neck,
I am a worker, advertising my need for basic human values like dignity, trust, and respect.
"Will work for dignity, trust and respect"
I bear a sign highlighting my desire for fair treatment.
Stand on this corner so you don't forget
I stand in public to ensure people don't overlook the need for these values.
I haven't had mine yet
I haven't received the respect and dignity I seek.
I am a prisoner pacing my cell
I am confined, pacing within my prison cell.
Three steps and back in my corner of hell
My existence is confined to a small, oppressive space.
Lock me away and you swallow the key
My freedom is denied, and the key is kept from me.
Some day I shall be free
I anticipate a future release and liberation.
And I'll be a wanderer feet on the ground
In the future, I will return to being a wanderer, grounded yet dreamy.
Heart on my sleeve and my head in the clouds
My emotions and imagination will continue to play a significant role in my journey.
Eye on a star above some distant shore
I will always have a distant goal, symbolized by a star over an unknown shore.
Wandering ever more
My wandering nature is a perpetual aspect of who I am.
