I Know What I Know
Embracing Life's Unseen Paths: I Know What I Know by Steve ForbertLyrics
I know what I know,
I have a clear understanding of my own knowledge.
I see what I see
I perceive things as they are.
And whatever will be and not be
The future, whether it happens or not, is beyond my control.
Is not up to me;
I acknowledge the limits of my influence.
I struggle and strain
I face difficulties and make efforts.
Again and again
I encounter challenges repeatedly.
While the power that makes and breaks things
The force that creates and destroys operates effortlessly.
Works effortlessly.
It works without any apparent struggle.
I know what I know.
Reiteration of self-awareness.
I scheme and I try,
I make plans and exert effort.
I grab at the sky,
I reach for ambitious goals.
But my urge for that whole control thing
The desire for absolute control will never be satisfied.
Will never fulfill;
I have dreams and aspirations.
I dream and I plan,
I formulate plans and take action.
I do what I can,
My achievements and failures are subject to a higher power.
But whatever gets done and not done
Is strictly God's will.
Outcomes are determined by God's will.
I know what I know.
Reiteration of self-awareness.
I know what I know.
Repetition for emphasis.
I know what I know.
I know what I know.
-I know what I know.
-I know what I know,
Confirmation of personal knowledge.
Though I can't speak for you,
Recognition that others may have different perspectives.
I know what I know
Reiteration of self-awareness.
Yeah, from my point of view...
Emphasizing the subjective nature of knowledge.
The man in the moon
Imaginary scenario of the man in the moon.
Would sing a new tune,
The man in the moon is limited in influencing change.
But he can't rearrange or change things
Constraints on rearranging or altering things.
And nobody can
No one can achieve significant change alone.
Alone on their own;
I see what I'm shown
Observing and accepting what is revealed.
And the power to mold and hold things
The power to shape things is beyond personal control.
Is out of my hands.
Lack of control over the molding and holding of things.
I know what I know.
Reiteration of self-awareness.
I know what I know.
I know what I know.
-I know what I know.
-I know what I know.
