Neighbor shared a story that's been sticking to my heart
Someone shared a poignant story that deeply affected me.
Said he and a pal hitch-hiked a ride down to Shreveport
The storyteller and a friend hitchhiked to Shreveport.
He had a little note that his Daddy had wrote
The storyteller had a note from their father, granting permission for the trip.
Said he had permission to take a ride out of Buffalo

Now at this point he was fifteen years old it was Easter break

And man it was time to go

They made it quite far and they ran out of speed
They traveled a considerable distance but ran out of transportation.
Had to catch a lift the opposite way just to keep on moving
