These are things that I made up
Creation of imaginary scenarios or excuses as coping mechanisms.
When I can't think straight enough
Difficulty thinking clearly, leading to the invention of coping mechanisms.
Maybe you'd call me out
Openness to being called out or confronted about the invented situations.
Maybe you'd make me see
Hope for someone to help recognize the reality of the situation.
Just what I'm really made of
Seeking self-discovery and understanding one's true nature.
It's gonna take awhile, but it's what I need
Acknowledging the necessity of time for self-discovery and growth.
As I came up above the waves
Emerging from difficulties and gaining attention from onlookers.
Some people stared and the others waved
Receiving mixed reactions from people—some staring, others showing support.
So as I swam, I heard someone say
While navigating challenges again, hearing a repeated comforting statement.
"Just wait right here, it'll be okay"
Reassured to wait in the current situation with the promise of improvement.
