But now, well now I find
Experiencing a shift where direct communication is preferred.
It saves time to say what you mean
Emphasizing the efficiency of straightforward expression.
I know it seems so unrefined
Acknowledging that honesty may seem unsophisticated.
But it's time to let off some steam
Feeling the need to release pent-up emotions.
Oh come on!
Encouraging a response.
Everybody knows that No means Yes
Challenging conventional interpretations of consent.
Just like glasses come free on the N.H.S.
Drawing a parallel between misunderstood signals and free glasses from the National Health Service (N.H.S).
But the more I look through them the more I see
Realizing deeper truths as one gains perspective.
I'm becoming more like Alfie
Noticing a personal transformation resembling Alfie's traits.

Reflecting on a time when kindness was sufficient.
When a kind word could be enough
Highlighting the power of a kind word.
And once there was a time
Recalling a time when love could blindfold the singer.
I could blindfold myself with love
Emphasizing a loss of innocence or idealism.
But not now - now I'm resigned
Resigned to a life different from what was expected.
To the kind of life I had reserved
Accepting a reality reserved for others perceived as less intelligent.
For other guys less smart than I
Referring to other men who may not be as intelligent but still attract romantic partners.
Y'know - the kind who will always end up with the girls
Reflecting on stereotypes about who gets the girl.
And besides
Everybody knows that No means Yes
Reiterating a provocative perspective on consent.
Just like glasses come free on the N.H.S.
Linking misunderstood signals to the idea of free glasses from the N.H.S.
But the more I look through them the more I see
Continuing to gain insights through a new lens.
I'm becoming more like Alfie
Noting an increasing resemblance to Alfie's character.
