Day is Done
Embracing Redemption: The Poetic Journey When the Day is DoneLyrics
I stand corrected, I am defeated
I admit my mistake, I acknowledge my defeat
I must concede it, when the day is done
I have to accept it when the day comes to an end
Make my atonement, into the water
I seek to make amends for my wrongdoings
Wait for the sunset, when the day is done
Waiting for the end of the day, possibly symbolizing a chance for redemption
I've been naïve, to think that one day
I was too innocent or inexperienced to believe that someday
Will happen someday, love, that time is gone
A hopeful event or love has passed and is no longer attainable
Find my integrity, scratch off the cobwebs
Rediscovering my honesty, removing the old and irrelevant things
Dig up a hole and bury these bones I've been dragging
Getting rid of burdens or mistakes from the past
After all of this time, beautiful distraction
Despite everything experienced, an attractive diversion or distraction remains
You became my destination
You, possibly a person or a thing, became my ultimate purpose or goal
Cast me out in any direction
No matter where I'm placed, I'll find my way back when the day ends
And I will return when the day is done
Reiterating the willingness to return after the day is over
I stand down, farewell to arms
I surrender, bidding goodbye to conflict or battles
And these sunset boulevards that can't love back
Mentioning unreciprocated feelings or places that cannot reciprocate love
You knew at once, what I was
The other person understood my true nature instantly
And we are because
We exist or have become who we are due to each other
You never looked back
You never looked back at the past
After all of this time, beautiful distraction
Despite distractions, the attraction or diversion remains significant
You became my destination
You, as the destination, remained important despite being cast aside
Cast me out in any direction
No matter where I'm placed, I'll find my way back when the day ends
And I will return when the day is done
Reiterating the willingness to return after the day is over
