Sometimes I have to ask myself,
Sometimes, the speaker reflects on the challenges of survival.
How it is that we survive,
Questioning the means by which people endure and persist.
We know trains, boats, planes and cars
A mention of various modes of transportation—trains, boats, planes, and cars.
Will sometimes fail,
A recognition that these modes can sometimes fail.
And if one don't get you then the other one will,
Highlighting the unpredictability of life-threatening situations.
And if the other don't get you then another one surely will.
Emphasizing the potential for successive threats in life.
Inside, your heart must keep on going,
Internal resilience is crucial; the heart and other organs must persevere.
And so must all the other parts too.
Underlining the necessity for all bodily functions to persist.
Illnesses and poisons lie in wait,
Acknowledging the lurking dangers of illnesses and poisons.
And if one don't get you the other one will,
Recognizing the potential threats to life from different sources.
And if the other don't get you then another one surely will.
Reiterating the idea of successive threats in life.
I'm not just talking 'bout the mountain climbers,
Expanding beyond extreme activities, addressing general dangers.
Jungle explorers or even hang gliders,
Enumerating various adventurous pursuits that pose risks.
I'm not just talking about test pilots,
Not limited to specific professions; risks extend to diverse occupations.
Steeplejacks, stuntmen or racing drivers.
Naming professions with inherent dangers and risks.
Half the people in the world behave
Commenting on the potentially harmful behavior of a significant portion of the population.
Like they'd like to see the other half dead,
Describing hostility with weapons or indifference towards others' well-being.
With guns and knives or perhaps just unconcern,
Highlighting the pervasive threat of harm from various sources.
And if one don't get you the other one will,
Reiterating the unpredictability of life-threatening situations.
And if the other don't get you then another one surely will.
Emphasizing the potential for successive threats in life.
I'm not just talking 'bout the mountain climbers,

Enumerating more risky professions, including secret agents.
I'm not just talking about skydivers,
Including those involved in high-risk activities like skydiving.
Trapeze artists or rodeo riders
Extending the list to cover various performers and athletes.
I'm not just talking 'bout bounty hunters,
Further expanding the scope to include professions like bounty hunters.
Astronauts, boxers or Billy Bunters...
Concluding with a diverse set of occupations prone to risks, including boxers and fictional character Billy Bunters.
