I ventured forth before the dawn had time to change its mind

Continuing the journey before external influences can dissuade.

And soaring high above the clouds I found a golden shrine

Reaching a significant, valuable, or spiritual destination.

Laying down my treasure before the iron gate

Presenting acquired treasures as an offering at a sacred place.

Quickly rang the bell hoping I hadn't come too late

Seeking acknowledgment or approval, possibly from a higher power.

But someone came along and told me not to waste my time

Encountering skepticism or discouragement from an unexpected source.

And when I asked him who he was he said, 'Just look behind'

Encountering a mysterious figure who directs attention to the past.

So I turned around and forty thousand headmen bit the dirt

Facing a significant confrontation resulting in the defeat of a large group.

Firing twenty shotguns each and man, it really hurt

Experiencing intense opposition, symbolized by gunfire.

But luckily for me they had to stop and then reload

Temporary respite in the face of opposition, allowing for a strategic retreat.

And by the time they'd done that I was heading down the road

Seizing the opportunity to escape while the opposition is temporarily halted.
