Questioning someone's purity and their ability to face challenges.
Then what have you to fear
Challenging the fearless attitude of the person being addressed.

Commenting on the comfort of a different perspective or situation.
When you’re accustomed to such thin air
Highlighting the difficulty of adapting to unfamiliar conditions.

Expression of self or identity.

Acknowledging one's history or past actions.

Highlighting secrecy and the lack of interference.

Instructing someone to move forward, disregarding distractions.
Nothing to see but every sense playing tricks on you
Suggesting that perception may be distorted, questioning reality.
I’ve heard you say it before
Referencing a previously stated idea about freedom.
No strings on human hands
Denying the existence of limitations on human actions.
But soon there won’t be
Anticipating a change or loss of a sacred or pure space.
An inch left of holy land
Imagining the depletion of a once holy area.
And when the floods have once again come
Anticipating a destructive event, potentially symbolic.
With terror all over my face and water in every inch of my lungs
Describing a terrifying scenario with personal consequences.
I’ll know I’ve said my peace and I was
Asserting completion of personal expression or communication.
Good enough to at least die young
Expressing acceptance of a life lived fully, potentially cut short.
So please just
A plea or request for someone to follow.
Follow me down to the water
Reiterating the invitation to a significant place.
Where those sins will be laid bare
Suggesting exposure or revelation of sins in a symbolic setting.
If you’re as pure as you promise
Repeating the challenge to the person's claimed purity.
Then what have you to fear
Posing a rhetorical question about facing fears.
This heat is killing you. I know
Commenting on the difficulty or intensity of a situation.
But what a hell of a way to go
Reflecting on the dramatic nature of a challenging experience.
