I try to picture just what color it could be.
Describing the creative process of imagining the color that corresponds to each song.
It's the best way that I know
Explaining the songwriter's method of aligning lyrics with musical notes.
(To pair the words with the notes that I sing).
Highlighting the importance of the harmony between words and music.
So, my love songs turn out red
Associating love songs with the color red.
And all my sad songs are a melancholy hue
Linking sad songs to a melancholic hue.
But, since I've yet to write that perfect song,
Acknowledging the quest for the perfect song that has not yet been written.
I have yet to use a True Royal Blue.
Expressing the yet-to-be-used color, True Royal Blue, in the songwriter's repertoire.
Because it's a color like no other;
Describing True Royal Blue as a unique and majestic color.
It has been mixed just for the majesty of sky
Referring to the color's association with the sky.
And those perfect circled isles
Connecting the color to the perfect, circular isles.
That rest softly in the oceans of your eyes
Depicting the color in the eyes, as oceans, and linking to beauty.
And the bluebird on the wind,
Referencing the bluebird on the wind as an elegant representation.
Beautiful and elegant in what they do.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the idea of confining True Royal Blue.
Oh, what shame to be caged—
Reflecting on the injustice of caging the color.
That does no justice to a True Royal Blue.
Highlighting the importance and value of True Royal Blue.
So, when those shadows start to bite
Describing challenging times represented by shadows.
And reduce us down to black and white,
Expressing the reduction of life to black and white during difficult moments.
Let the music chase away those dreadful grays
Advocating for music as a remedy to dispel grayness and preserve color.
And let us pray some color stays.
Expressing the hope for vibrant colors to persist despite challenges.
I am a peasant here by birth
Identifying oneself as a humble individual, not born into royalty.
(No part of me was colored like a king)
Emphasizing the lack of regal qualities in the songwriter's background.
And although I'm just a subject,
Acknowledging one's subordinate position but expressing admiration for someone special.
You are my Queen.
Declaring the addressed person as a queen in the songwriter's eyes.
So, if I offered you some bread
Symbolically offering sustenance and a personalized song to the queen.
And sang a song that I had written just for you,
Inviting the queen to join the songwriter in experiencing transformation through music.
Would you lie down beside me
Expressing a desire for shared moments and growth.
And watch this simpleton progress from gray
Describing the transition from a mundane state (gray) to a more vibrant one (True Royal Blue).
