What's holding us back,
Questioning the barriers preventing devotion to the liberator.
From serving the one who set us free?
Identifying the one who granted freedom as the solution.
We need to step back,
Recognizing the need to step back from a misguided existence.
And turn off this false reality.
Rejecting a false reality and embracing a truthful one.
I hate to turn it on,
Reluctance to face a world filled with wrongdoing.
And see a world gone wrong.
Observing a world in disarray when exposing oneself to it.
Why God's watching over me,
Feeling secure knowing that God is vigilant and benevolent.
Unlocking His wisdom and mercy.
Accessing divine insight, wisdom, and compassion.
Why can't we turn it off,
Questioning the difficulty of disengaging from the negative aspects of the world.
And set our minds on things above?
Advocating for a focus on spiritual matters.
God, open our eyes,
Praying for a revelation of God's plan.
To what you have in store for us.
Requesting insight into God's intentions for our lives.
Take these eyes of mine,
Seeking a redirection of attention away from unrighteousness.
Away from this unrighteousness.
Desiring distance from morally wrong actions.
Reveal to me, your straight and narrow path.
Asking for guidance along the morally upright path.
Break the chain of this unrighteous act.
Calling for the breaking of a chain associated with unrighteous behavior.
Letting down our guards,
Lowering defenses and becoming vulnerable.
Enslaved by images,
Becoming enslaved by misleading images and perceptions.
Trading all our knowledge,
Sacrificing knowledge for the allure of entertainment.
For the chance at entertainment.
Trading valuable understanding for momentary pleasure.
Adding more frustration,
Adding to the confusion in our minds.
To the confusion of our minds.
Intensifying the complexity of our thoughts and emotions.
Switching channel to channel,
Frequently changing focus without a clear purpose.
Never knowing what we're going to find.
Living in uncertainty, not knowing what to expect.
