Weekdays
Navigating Love's Weekday Journey: Carole King's ReflectionsLyrics
Weekday mornings
Beginning of the workweek, typically Monday to Friday mornings
Coffee smell in the air
Sensory perception of the aroma of coffee in the environment
After you've gone and the children have left for school
After the partner has departed and the children have gone to school
I'm alone and I think about all the plans we made
Reflecting on plans made together with the partner
I think about all the dreams I had
Contemplating unfulfilled aspirations and ambitions
And I wonder if I'm a fool
Questioning oneself if being hopeful or optimistic is naive
Weekday midday
Middle of the weekday
I've got the marketing done
Completed tasks related to marketing
Plenty to do but nothing to tax my mind
Having numerous activities but none mentally challenging
That's alright, it's a habit
Acceptance of the routine as a habit
Heaven knows I can always watch the daytime shows
Choosing to watch daytime television shows
And I wonder which story's mine
Contemplating which life story relates to oneself
She loved a man she knew little about
A woman loving a man with limited knowledge about him
After so many years of trying
After persistent efforts over many years
So many years of doing without
Enduring many years of deprivation or lack
Oh, but what's the use of crying
Questioning the purpose of shedding tears or expressing sorrow
Weekday evenings
Evening time during the weekdays
We sit and I realize
Realization during shared moments with the partner
You've dreamed, too, and I kind of understand
Acknowledgment of mutual dreams and understanding
I've been with you and you need me to take care of you
Recognition of being a support for the partner's needs
But we'll work it out so I'm a person, too
Striving for personal identity within the relationship
And we'll help each other out the best that we can
Commitment to mutual support and assistance
'Cause I'm your woman and you're my man
Affirmation of the relationship roles
