Why
Finding Meaning Amidst Suffering: Crystal Lewis' "WhyLyrics
My thoughts they overwhelm me
Feeling overwhelmed by thoughts
My mind cannot contain
Unable to mentally handle the pain
The pain that is within me
Experiencing inner pain
Why
Questioning the reason for the pain
I long for understanding
Desiring understanding
I live to know the peace
Seeking peace through knowledge
that comes from being sure of something
Peace from certainty in something
My eyes are blind to your ways oh Lord
Feeling spiritually unaware
Yet I've seen you love and care, so
Observing God's love despite spiritual blindness
I rest in your knowing
Resting in God's omniscience
Though I may not know
Accepting lack of complete understanding
I take on your strength as though it were my own
Embracing God's strength as personal
Standing on the promises your word for me provides
Relying on God's promises from scripture
I find therein the answer
Discovering answers within God's promises
To the question Why...
Seeking an answer to the question "Why"
My complaint today is bitter
Expressing bitterness in complaints
But sweet is your reply
God's response is comforting despite bitterness
My questioning still lingers though why
Continued questioning despite comfort
You know each road I travel down
Acknowledging God's knowledge of life's paths
My heart and Yours are one
Unity between personal and divine hearts
But I just don't see the good in all this
Struggling to see the good in circumstances
My eyes are blind to your ways oh Lord
Repeated sense of spiritual unawareness
yet I've seen you love and care so...
Witnessing God's love despite blindness
I rest in your knowing
Resting in God's omniscience
Though I may not know
Accepting limited understanding
I take on your strength as though it were my own
Assuming God's strength as personal
Standing on the promises your word for me provides
Reliance on God's promises for answers
I find therein the answer
Finding answers within God's promises
To the question Why...
Seeking answers to the question "Why"
Through suffering and sorrow
Peace emerging from suffering
Comes peace beyond belief
Experiencing profound peace
For our present set of circumstances
Current circumstances serve a purpose
Serve only to remind us of the gold we can't yet see
Difficult circumstances reveal unseen value
