I went into a restaurant as hungry as a bear,

I entered a restaurant extremely hungry.

And like a raving maniac I grabbed the bill of fare

I eagerly grabbed the menu in a frenzied manner.

The waiter said "what will you have," "give me a steak" I say

The waiter asked for my order, and I requested a steak.

He took my order 'bout his head and slowly walked away

The waiter nodded and slowly walked away after taking my order.

And he never came back, he never came back,

Despite waiting for a significant time,

Though I waited an hour or more

The waiter did not return.

Oh his face I will break, if he don't bring that steak,

I express frustration, threatening to harm the waiter's face.

When we meet on that beautiful shore

Humorously referencing meeting in the afterlife if justice isn’t served.


A jay who lived down on the farm came into see the town,

A naive person from a rural area came to the city.

Registered at Smith's hotel as Mr Hayseed Brown

Registered under a fake name at a hotel.

A jay he was so y'all admit with whiskers green as grass,

Describing this person's appearance in a comical way.

Pulled off his shoes jumped into bed and then blew out the gas

The person accidentally caused their own demise by turning off the gas.

And he never came back, he never came back,

Similar to previous situations, the person vanished without returning.

And as they broke down the door,

Authorities intervened after the person’s absence.

Oh the last words he said, just before he dropped dead,

Recounting the person's final words before their death.

Were "we'll meet on that beautiful shore"

Referencing an afterlife meeting despite the tragic outcome.


I went into a circus show, I took my mother in law

Attending a circus show with a relative.

She laughed at everything she saw 'til she nearly broke her jaw

The relative laughed excessively, almost to the point of injury.

Nearby I saw a big balloon which proved to be my friend

Spotting a large balloon which became part of a darkly humorous action.

I threw her in, I cut the rope, and up she did ascend

The relative was put into the balloon, and it was released.

And she never came back, she never came back,

Similar to the other scenarios, the relative vanished without returning.

Though we waited for six days or more

Despite waiting for an extended period, there was no return.

Oh, there's one thing I know, I will go down below,

Expressing a belief about one's fate after performing such actions.

If we meet on that beautiful shore
