Lyrics

I am a frightened rabbit,

I feel vulnerable and scared, like a frightened rabbit.

Running off a map,

I am navigating unknown territory without a clear plan.

Only loved you out of habit,

I loved you as a routine or without much thought.

I ain't proud of that,

I am not proud of this behavior.

But while I do the dishes,

While doing mundane tasks like dishes, I distract myself with a melody.

I hum a little tune,

Despite the difficult emotions, I try to find solace in a tune.

Someday, no time soon

Anticipating a future when things will be better but unsure when.

I was raised in a maligned,

I grew up in a neglected town near a fading border.

Fading border town,

The town is losing significance or importance.

Trying to change somebody's mind,

Attempting to change someone's perspective can be detrimental.

It'll only drag you down,

Trying to change minds can bring you down.

When I think of going back,

Contemplating returning to the past on a warm afternoon.

It's a summer afternoon,

Revisiting memories of a summer afternoon.

Someday, no time soon

Hopeful for a better future but uncertain when it will come.

There's a better way to live,

There's a preferable, peaceful way of living.

Quietly someplace,

A tranquil place where anonymity is valued.

Where nobody will admit,

People pretend not to recognize or acknowledge your existence.

They have ever known your face,

People deny knowing you.

You are tempted by the countryside,

Feeling enticed by rural life, but acknowledging vulnerability.

Well, I am not immune,

Admitting susceptibility, not immune to temptation.

Someday, no time soon

Hopeful for a change in the future, but uncertain when.

The sun is going down,

Sunset symbolizes an ending, a change in surroundings.

On the house across the street,

Observing changes in the neighborhood.

I'm a colder person now,

Experiencing emotional coldness but striving to change.

I am trying not to be,

An attempt to overcome emotional distance.

When I come to my senses,

Acknowledging a need for self-awareness and improvement.

I'll be in a darkened room,

Expecting a moment of clarity in a solitary space.

Someday, no time soon

Hopeful for a positive change in the future but unsure when.

I assume that every star,

Assuming that everything in the universe has a purpose.

Is where it's supposed to be,

Believing in the orderliness of the cosmos.

I am waiting in the car,

Waiting for something significant to happen.

You tilt your head and wave to me,

Receiving a signal or greeting from someone familiar.

I roll down the window,

Creating a connection by rolling down the window.

You say come out and see the moon,

Invitation to share a moment, observing the moon together.

Someday, no time soon

Hopeful for a future connection but uncertain when.

I am sure that you think of me,

Believing that the person still thinks of me, even if rarely.

Scarcely, if at all,

Assuming the person rarely thinks about me.

But if you do some night quite suddenly,

Encouraging the person to reach out if they think of me.

Don't hesitate to call,

An open invitation to connect, even for a simple meal.

Even just breakfast,

Suggesting a casual encounter like breakfast in a humble place.

In some greasy spoon,

Hopeful for a connection in the future but uncertain when.

Someday, no time soon
