Lyrics

I'll make believe

I will create a false reality

That the sight of her in my head's seldom seen

Imagining her presence is a rare occurrence in my thoughts

And then insist

I will assert strongly

That I can't still taste the inside of her kiss

Claiming that I can no longer feel the memory of her kiss

With luck in time

With good fortune over time

I might even fool myself with both those lies

It's possible that I may deceive myself with both lies

Till there's no need

Until there is no necessity

I'll make believe

I will create a false reality

I'll just pretend

I will simply act as if

That she really never left me in the end

She never truly left me in the end

And all night long

All through the night

Swear right up and down round here, there's nothin' wrong

Declare emphatically that there is nothing wrong

With work my mind

By focusing on my work

Could cause the truth to get lost or hard to find

My thoughts could obscure or make it difficult to discover the truth

But until then

But until that time

I'll just pretend

I will simply act as if

Oh, how I wish you could've seen her

Expressing a desire for someone to witness her returning and pleading with me

Come crawlin' back a beggin' me

If that had happened, I wouldn't need her as much as I currently do

'Cause if you had, I wouldn't need her

Like I do so desperately

Expressing desperation in needing her

I'll just pretend

I will simply act as if

That she really never left me in the end

She never truly left me in the end

And all night long

All through the night

Swear right up and down 'round here, there's nothing wrong

Declare emphatically that there is nothing wrong

With work my mind

By focusing on my work

Could cause the truth to get lost or hard to find

My thoughts could obscure or make it difficult to discover the truth

But until then

But until that time

I'll just pretend

I will simply act as if
