Lyrics
In this life there are customers and there are employees
In life, there exist two categories: customers and employees.
customers get the benefit of being naïve
Customers benefit from being unaware or innocent.
never really aware that constantly being sold shit
They are unaware that they are consistently being sold products.
distracted by the merchandise they only want to hold it
Customers are distracted by the products they desire.
they identify with the brands and fancy advertisements
They relate to brands and alluring advertisements.
used to the fact their personality is on consignment
They're accustomed to having their identity influenced or shaped by what they buy.
all is fine inside their world no depth exists for them to find it
Within their world, there's no depth to explore or comprehend.
all at face value and they don't really seem to mind
They accept things at face value and seem unperturbed.
ignorance is bliss but it's still ignorance
Though ignorance brings contentment, it remains ignorance.
while we buy in to the cost of obliviousness
We invest in the price of being unaware.
it may seem that their are getting out ahead
It might appear they are benefiting, but the costs will eventually catch up.
lest we forget cost comes back in the end
Don't forget that the expenses will return in the end.
when it's time to check out They spend what they're worth
When it's time to leave this life, they spend what they've earned.
no substance has been purchased no purpose to their birth
They've acquired nothing substantial; their existence lacks purpose.
and I am sorry as far as options that seems worse
Options available to them seem worse than the burden of working.
than the burden that becomes of us spending that time at work
Working feels burdensome, but it might be better than the alternative.
In this life there are customers and there are employees
Life encompasses both customers and employees.
employees are the people with the customers and their needs
Employees are those attending to customers and their needs.
too aware of the truth of operations the magic in the fabric is as magic as a facelift
Employees understand the reality of operations; the glamour is not as magical as it seems.
with patience they go to work every single day because
They diligently work every day to maintain stability.
they know that if they don't this whole shit would break up
They realize the importance of their work in upholding the system.
those displays are just daily labor they are no longer phased by the glamour the escape the
They've grown accustomed to routine and are unaffected by the allure of products.
satisfaction knowing that that shirt and how it fits you
Recognizing that a product is just an item in a box, devoid of real value.
is just a piece of plastic in a box we had to dig through
They're weary of cleaning up after others' materialistic pursuits.
and we are getting tired of having to pick up after you
Expressing fatigue at constantly having to deal with the aftermath of consumerism.
but on the day we retire we will know what satisfaction was
Upon retirement, they'll appreciate the satisfaction of hard work and a corresponding paycheck.
a hard days work and a paycheck to match it because
They understand the value of their labor and the compensation it brings.
these two hands and my back are all that I have to trust
They rely solely on their own capabilities and efforts.
and at the end of the day I hope what I'm supplying
Hope that what they provide is worthwhile, matching the time spent by customers.
is worth the hype and the time that you took to buy it
Desiring the products they offer to justify the hype and time spent in acquiring them.
