They feared life desperately
They were very afraid of living
Thus they proclaimed any given truth
Therefore, they declared any supposed truth
And swallowed, as if to justify their fear
And accepted, as if to validate their fear
He knew that there had been hordes of seers
He understood that there were many prophets before him
Before him who set out to cure though,
Who attempted to heal, however,
The sick wished not to part with their decease
The ill did not want to let go of their illness
As if it made them feel alive
